We went to Edith Falls today which is within the Nitmiluk National Park. We walked up to the clifftop on one side of the river, crossed above one of the waterfalls and then back down the other side of the gorge. This gave us lovely views and it was great to see so much water after all the arid regions. In 'the wet' the river rises by about 18 metres and the waterfalls all but disappear in the raging torrent. The fringing plants are superbly adapted as they somehow manage to hold on to the rocks and sand banks until the rain passes. This place is absolutely beautiful.
