Tedious drive
We made a fantastically early start, 7:00am, for the very boring drive to Fitzroy Crossing. This drive was not as long as some others but the road is dead straight and the only sign of human life during the 398km drive is Halls Creek which is a tiny little settlement. We just stopped for a rest break. These outback roads are all through stations, in the case of the ones around here, cattle stations. This means having to keep an eye out for wandering cows.
We arrived early afternoon to the camp site in Fitzroy Crossing. As they don't do bookings we were none too sure of getting a powered site, but we did and the place is lovely. The park is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy river which is one of the largest in the world when in flood. In the wet season the river rises by 15 metres.
Great to be back in mobile coverage and delighted with a video sent from Nicole of Joel riding on his little red car. Also lovely to get a call from Simone and have a chat with Amelie too.
