Monday 9th July - Cooinda, Kakadu NP

Feeling the humidity

Last night was hot and humid and today was even worse.  Eventually about 7:00pm a few drops of rain fell but it did nothing to relieve the situation.  I would hate to be here in the build up to the wet.  Around 7:15pm we gave in and put the air con on in the caravan, this is the first time we have used it for cooling.  Temperature was 34 degrees when it was turned on.

A very lazy day.  We walked to the nearby cultural centre where there is a display about the local Bininj people and their connection to the land.  Later we walked to Mardugal billabong which is part of the same river system as Yellow Waters, it all flows over the escarpment at Jim Jim Falls.  There were only a few birds around but the reflections in the water were wonderful.

In the late afternoon we spent sometime in the swimming pool cooling off then went to watch another beautiful sunset over Yellow Waters.
