Friday 6th July - Darwin to Cooinda

Kakadu National Park

We had heard so many conflicting stories about Kakadu that we were not sure what to expect.  Some areas are closed due to unseasonably high water levels but what we have seen so far is fabulous.

We drove straight to the campsite [which is really good] with just a couple of short stops to buy park passes and to walk the Mamukala wetlands.

We had booked a Yellow Waters sunset cruise and were not disappointed.  There was plenty of birds on the water, the plant reflections in the billabong were fabulous and the sunset was just beautiful.  All this plus we saw saltwater crocs in the wild - the first we have seen.
